June Allyson

Unfortunately, we lost June Allyson on Saturday. She had been ill for quite some time and passed on at her home in Ojai, CA. If you would like to write up a little tribute to be posted on ReelJewels, you can either comment to this post or email me at paularidgeway@gmail.com.

ReelCast has been delayed due to technical difficulties in the last week or so, but it will come out soon with a tribute to June Allyson now that we know. It’ll be hard to do, but I’m going to do it for Junie.

Episode 26 Notes

Kayla is looking for people who would be willing to write fan stories about a certain selection of stars for a new website she’s working on http://www.elite-fabulous.com (the site will be up next week, she hopes!). She has a temporary site that is a template for what she’s going to do here: http://www.kathryngraysonfan.com/elitefabulous. You can email Kayla at KathrynGraysonFn@aol.com.

The star tributes she has planned thus far are:

Jeanette MacDonald
Greer Garson
Mary Astor
Viven Leigh
Ann Miller
Myrna Loy
Ginger Rogers
Judy Garland
Deborah Kerr
Norma Shearer

For more information about Natalie Cole, go here: http://www.nataliecole.com.

For more information about Lorna Luft, go here:

And lastly, the most comprehensive site for Liza Minnelli is here: http://www.lizaonline.co.uk/index.html.

Meet Me in St. Louis is available in a two disc DVD set. It’s beautifully remastered. You can find that here: Meet Me In St. Louis (Two-Disc Special Edition).

The Soundtrack is also available from Rhino. You can find that here.

You can find Natalie Cole’s tribute album to her father here: Unforgettable: With Love.

Liza’s big tribute to her father was Minnelli on Minnelli. You can buy Minnelli on Minnelli here: Minnelli on Minnelli: Live at the Palace.

And last, but not least–you can find Linda’s Judy tribute album here:By Myself: The Songs of Judy Garland.

If you know of anyone else who does tributes like this who should be mentioned in ReelCast, let me know–I’d love to know of more brave souls. I will do another segment which includes people who try to revive standards in general like Michael Buble. Email me at paularidgeway@gmail.com for feedback on anything you heard on today’s ReelCast.

Happy Fathers day to any fathers out there! 🙂

ReelCast.org Gets a Facelift

I’ve been unsatified with the feel of ReelCast.org for quite some time. I wanted to make it more streamlined and I think and I hope, I have now succeeded at that. Every episode is archived now with brief description of who and what is in the show. I’ve also made it so that if people want to post commentaries to the show they can. You can do so by registering here: http://www.reelcast.org/wordpress/wp-register.php.

If you register, you also agree to write commentaries in a tasteful way with supplemental information and opposing views done in an educated way. In other words, no mudslinging without facts or an intelligent thought process behind your views.

I hope this will make the shows even better. Feel free to comment to the posts as well with any suggestions or comments that you have.  The next episode of ReelCast will be available tomorrow.
